Even the most successful writers still come up with some real groaners. The Telegraph drew up a list of Dan Brown’s twenty worst sentences (he’s the author of The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons).
For a taste, here’s number 18:
“18.The Da Vinci Code, chapter 4: He could taste the familiar tang of museum air - an arid, deionized essence that carried a faint hint of carbon - the product of industrial, coal-filter dehumidifiers that ran around the clock to counteract the corrosive carbon dioxide exhaled by visitors. Ah, that familiar tang of deionised essence.”
Revolution created the below ad for Progress Magazine. And by created I mean that we built the set in an abandoned space in Saint John–right down to the wallpaper. Then we lit the set, prepped the model, and shot the scene.
We wanted to spend some time creating an elaborate photo with a high fashion look that would jump off the page of a business magazine, and we’re pretty happy with the results.

The music in the video is by my buddy and Saint John artist Clinton Charlton. The song Words is from his 2009 album Parade and is available on iTunes.
I had a chance this morning to talk briefly with Suzanne Kingston, the executive director of the organization, and I’m hoping to do an interview with Suzanne soon where you can hear about the work the foundation is doing in her own voice.

Revolution is a silver sponsor at the Foundation’s upcoming November 5th art auction. Co-chairs Roxanne Reeves and James Ross will host the event.
I did a double take when I saw the list of artists involed. Artists like Joanne Hunt, Tessa May. and David McKay among a host of others.
Yesterday, I had a discussion with a colleague about whether or not a specific business should be a part of Twitter. This is a business whose customers are not typically engaged in social media (less than 7%). This debate continued for probably 6 minutes or so.
We could’ve just set up a Twitter account and tried it in that amount of time. Any idiot can make a Twitter account, find some people with similar interests to follow, and start participating. It takes almost no time or effort. There’s nothing to lose.
And take this example. A couple of days ago I tweeted the following:
@culbersontwit Enjoying Mrs. Renfro’s peach salsa this evening. Good stuff. Is there a hot version available?
A typical personal, late in the evening throw-away Tweet, but I have a couple of die hard foodie friends. I thought maybe they’d send me links to their favorite salsa recipes, or possibly even know the answer to my question.
The next time I open Tweetie on my iPhone, I see this in my replies:
@RenfroFoods@culbersontwit Thanx for tweeting abt us; u might like to try our “sweet heat” flavors Raspberry Chipotle and Mango Habanero
Unexpected. Answered my question. Almost no effort.
And you can be certain I’ll be looking for Mango Habanero the next time I’m at Sobeys.
Revolution Strategy was the presenting sponsor at a great event in Moncton last night, the Junior Achievement New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame gala. Check out a bunch of photos of people who came by the red carpet on Flickr.
I cannot believe that it’s almost the end of September. Every year as the summer months come to a close, and September rushes in, I am overcome by a feeling of new beginnings. A crisp new season, beautiful weather, and a fresh start to the year. It’s the same feeling I got every year when school began. (Yes, I enjoyed back to school time even as a child.)
But somehow, I had about an hour of that feeling and completely misplaced the month of September! I don’t know where it went. I even missed all of the back to school clothing sales! Well, I’m taking back the fall! I’ve fallen prey to those lame Old Navy commercials with the manequins and I’m going to buy some fall/winter sweaters this weekend…just to make myself feel new again!
And speaking of feeling new again, here’s a new song I’d like to pimp out - Relator by Scarlett Johansson and Pete Yorn. I have always like them separately, but who knew they were so great together! Can’t wait to get the entire album. New sweaters and new music..retail therapy - here I come.
