Rob Rankin

Rob’s fascination with development pre-dates the Internet.

For real.

When he was just 10 years old, he was given a build-it-yourself toy computer – and he couldn’t put it down. Next thing you know, he had written his first QBasic program – and it’s onward and upward from there.

Before joining Revolution, Rob was a developer with Wyndham Worldwide, where he built augmented reality training apps, video games for the Apple App and Google Play stores, iPad kiosks and indoor navigation technologies.

Before that, he founded his own web and app development company, where he built websites, apps, CMS theming, web apps, back-end systems and more.

At Revolution, Rob is one of our lead developers (translation: he’s Brett’s BFF). Rob touches nearly all of our digital projects – from full web builds, to mobile app work, to when someone on the strategy side needs help with something’s back-end. (That came out wrong.)

He is a master of front-end languages like HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and SASS; back-end languages including Node.JS, PHP, MySQL, Java and C#; and spoken languages such as English. He’s also a big fan of mobile-first responsive design and awesome tools like WebPack, Composer, GIT, Bash, and the lovely Sublime Text.

Rob shares much of his time with his ridiculously adorable siberian husky, Watson.

A co-worker once told Rob he was “too nice” to be a developer – exactly our type of guy.

Say hello any time.
